BAMBERG, S.C. (AP) - Crews have extinguished a fire that burned four buildings in a small South Carolina city.
Bamberg Fire Chief Timmie Taylor told news outlets the fire was reported on the city’s main street shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
No injuries have been reported.
At least one building collapsed and firefighters tore down another building to keep the flames from spreading. Parts of a city street were closed by debris on the road. Most of the buildings were vacant.
Fire departments in Bamberg and Orangeburg counties responded.
There is no word yet on what sparked the fire.
Bamberg has a population of about 3,600 people and is about 50 miles (80kilometers) south of Columbia.
