President Trump called House Democrats “shameful” Wednesday for waffling over a possible vote against anti-Semitism.
“It is shameful that House Democrats won’t take a stronger stand against Anti-Semitism in their conference,” the president tweeted. “Anti-Semitism has fueled atrocities throughout history and it’s inconceivable they will not act to condemn it!”
Democratic lawmakers debated Wednesday behind closed doors whether to hold a vote on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism, in the wake of comments by Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota that were perceived as anti-Semitic. Democrats decided to add a provision also condemning anti-Muslim behavior, but it’s not clear whether the measure will receive a floor vote.
