RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a man was shot and wounded in a “targeted shooting” at a busy IHOP on Long Island following a dispute between Bloods gang members.
Suffolk County police say it happened just before 1:30 p.m. inside the restaurant in Ronkonkoma.
Police say the victim, who was with a group of people at a table, approached a second table of diners. Moments later, police say a person at the second table fired multiple shots, hitting the victim once.
Police say the shooter fled the scene but was apprehended nearby. The victim was hospitalized for a gunshot wound. Police believe the two had an “interaction before the shooting.”
Police say there were about 20 patrons in the restaurant, including a family with children. None of the customers were injured.
