EAST HADDAM, Conn. (AP) - Three male students at a Connecticut high school have been charged with taking voyeuristic photos up the skirts of female classmates.
Police say the students at Nathan Hale-Ray High School in East Haddam were arrested Friday after an extensive investigation. Their names were not made public because they are juveniles.
Superintendent Brian Reas wrote in a letter to parents that the boys were taking “secretive, non-consensual photographs of female students” during school hours. Reas called the behavior “intolerable and offensive.”
The legislature’s Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hold a public hearing on Monday on a bill that would toughen the consequences of co-called “upskirting” photos.
Republican State Sen. Heather Somers, of Groton, tells WFSB-TV that under current law, prosecuting upskirting cases is tough when they happen in a public place.
