ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - State environmental officials are advising people to be alert for animals with unusual or aggressive behavior after several positive rabies tests in the eastern Adirondacks.
The Department of Environmental Conservation says reports of wildlife behaving strangely have resulted in positive rabies tests in the towns of Moriah, Crown Point and Ticonderoga in eastern Essex County.
Wild animals with rabies may act tame, sick or unusually aggressive. They may also stagger, have convulsions, choke or froth at the mouth. Officials advise people not to approach such animals and to report them immediately to DEC.
