HOLDEN, W.Va. (AP) - Officials are looking into cases of scabies at a West Virginia elementary school.
The Logan County superintendent on Thursday told WSAZ-TV that Holden Central Elementary School has had a few confirmed scabies cases, putting the total number at less than 10.
The school’s head nurse tells the station that everyone affected has been treated and that they are taking precautions to prevent spreading. Extra custodians have also been added and the school has been in contact with the health and education departments.
The first case was reported last week.
Scabies is an itchy infestation of the skin by a microscopic mite.
