SOMERS, Conn. (AP) - Authorities in Connecticut are investigating after one person died in a house fire in Somers.

Neighbors say they heard several explosions around 6 p.m. on Thursday before the home burst into flames.

Fire Chief John Roache tells the Hartford Courant the explosions were apparently caused by oxygen tanks stored in the home.

Roache says the victim was a middle-aged man whose body was found on the first floor of the home. The man’s name was not immediately released.

Several other residents were able to escape the blaze.

The State Police-Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit is trying to determine the cause of the fire.

Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
