HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Meteorologists say a spring storm that is bringing rain and snow may lead to additional flooding in Montana as the runoff flows into rivers and streams already swollen with snowmelt.

National Weather Service officials say the latest storm dumped heavy, wet snow on western and central Montana overnight. Scattered rain and snow showers are expected through Friday across most of the state except for the northeast.

Officials say flooding is possible where the heavier precipitation occurs.

Snowmelt and river ice jams have already caused some flooding on roads, fields and in small communities, particularly in northeastern Montana along the Milk and Yellowstone rivers, and in southeastern Montana along the Little Bighorn River.

An ice jam is also causing major flooding of the Missouri River near Landusky in central Montana.
