Girl killed by hit-and-run driver on way to bus stop

CAPE CORAL, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say an 8-year-old Florida girl was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking to a school bus stop.

The News-Press reports that Layla Aiken was rushed to a hospital Monday morning and later died.

Cape Coral police say the driver who hit Layla fled the scene.

School officials say a safety team will inspect the stop.
