ZACHARY, La. (AP) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman was found dead in a home in Zachary.

Sheriff Sid Gautreaux says the call came in around 8:20 p.m. Thursday. He says the woman’s husband called 911 after coming home to find her bound body. The sheriff says there are signs of forced entry, leading them to believe this was a home invasion.

WAFB-TV reports the sheriff’s office identified the woman as 74-year-old Frances Jane Schultz.

Officials are unsure of her exact cause of death, but the sheriff says she had a significant amount of head trauma.

Gautreaux says the couple had been married for 54 years.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the sheriff’s office, the Zachary Police Department or CrimeStoppers at 225-344-7867.
