Hartford police chief announces his resignation

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The Hartford police chief says he is resigning after 14 months on the job to take a job with an aviation manufacturer.

Democratic Mayor Luke Bronin announced the resignation Thursday of Police Chief David Rosado, a former lieutenant colonel in the state police who grew up in the city. The Hartford Courant reports Rosado is resigning next month to take a job in security with Pratt & Whitney.

Assistant Chief Jason Thody will serve as acting chief after Rosado leaves on April 12.

Rosado’s resignation comes as the department is dealing with complaints from female police officers who say they were sexually harassed and received disparate treatment.

Rosado previously said that the department would hire a national firm to do a review of the department.
