Buffalo, NY zoo says Agnes the Giraffe has died at age 24

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - New York’s Buffalo Zoo says its 24-year-old giraffe Agnes has died.

The giraffe was euthanized on Thursday.

The zoo’s president, Norah Fletchall, says Agnes “lived well into her golden years” and was “deeply loved.”

The zoo had announced on Monday that Agnes appeared to be in her “final days.” She had advanced arthritis and other health issues that had not responded to treatment.

Agnes was born at the zoo in 1994 and lived there with one of her offspring, Zuri.
