LEE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a stopped school bus picking up elementary school students was rear-ended by a car in central New York, sending four children and the car’s driver to the hospital.

The Oneida County sheriff’s office says the bus was struck at about 8:30 a.m. Monday by a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Christine Connolly in the Town of Lee, northeast of Syracuse.

Four students from the bus were transported to a hospital in nearby Rome for evaluation of minor injuries. Connolly was transported to a hospital for evaluation of lower leg and chest injuries.

Police say Connolly was issued several traffic tickets, including following too closely.
