ATLANTA (AP) - A fiery crash at the end of a police chase killed two people south of Atlanta.
The Georgia State Patrol says that Henry County police were trying to stop a stolen Mazda CX-9 on Interstate 75 around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
The Mazda began driving the wrong way on the interstate, crashed head-on with a Ford pickup truck and burst into flames.
WSB-TV reports that the driver of the Mazda and the driver of the pickup both died.
The station reports that the blaze was so intense that it melted away a freeway barrier. The crash also backed up traffic for miles.
In a separate crash, a pedestrian was struck and killed in Clayton County shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday. Few other details about that wreck were available early Tuesday.
