DURHAM, N.H. (AP) - Students in New Hampshire participated in a sleep-out to help draw attention to homelessness over the weekend.
Over two dozen high school students slept outside a church in Durham in a “cardboard city” meant to draw attention to populations impacted by homelessness. Youth minister Felicia Sperry tells WMUR-TV that this year; students are using the sleep-out to draw attention to homeless veterans.
Sperry says students have looked at how homelessness affects teenagers and refugees in past years.
The sleep-out started at 6 p.m. on Saturday, and the students stayed outside until 10 a.m. Sunday. Students also raised money and collecting items like canned goods for Liberty House in Manchester.
