PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Johnson & Wales University is honoring its new chancellor.

The investiture ceremony for Mim Runey is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence.

Runey previously served as president of the university’s Providence campus and chief operating officer for the university system.



Johnson & Wales also has campuses in North Miami, Denver and Charlotte.

Runey is the university’s third chancellor. She succeeds John Bowen, who served in the role from 2010 to 2018. The university’s first chancellor, Morris Gaebe, was appointed in 1989.

Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo is scheduled to speak at the ceremony. The university says the ceremony is an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to celebrate the school’s history and future.

Attendees must have an invitation. There will also be a livestream .
