SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont authorities say five police officers have been treated for minor injuries after a suspect rammed his car into police cruisers.

Police accuse 33-year-old Michael Sumner, of Burlington, of arranging online to meet with a person under 16 to engage in a sex act when South Burlington Police arrived to arrest him Friday.

Police say the person posing as the minor was a police officer.

When patrol cars arrived, police say Sumner used his vehicle to smash his way from the parking spot and narrowly missed hitting officers who were out of the cruisers. Police say he then collided head-on with another cruiser.

He’s facing charges of luring a child and multiple counts of aggravated assault on a police officer. It was unknown if he’s being represented by an attorney.
