OPINION:
American columnists and scholars are right that President Trump should not let Iranians take military action without a U.S. response, and precise proportionality really does not matter except to liberal Democrats and the drive-by media. A considerable number of socialist and left-leaning Americans, especially in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, consider Mr. Trump — not Iran — the main enemy.
The many Democratic candidates for president, party leaders in blue states and the leaders in the House of Representatives are just waiting for a reason to launch an all-out domestic war against Mr. Trump. Mr. Trump’s strong cyber attacks and greatly increased economic sanctions are probably much better for America than blowing away torpedo boats and eviscerating radar sites. Our president is effectively calling out Iran’s Khamenei and the ayatollahs to take the heat for the drone attack instead of taking the heat himself for killing 150 Iranians, which could include women and children. Now Iran has to answer at the United Nations and on the world stage — and Democratic activists have to wait for another opportunity to call President Trump a warmonger and a baby killer.
