RENO, Nev. (AP) - The National Weather Service has canceled a weeklong flood advisory along the California-Nevada line due to cooling temperatures that have eased the rapid snowmelt in the Sierra.
A flood advisory remains in effect until 8:30 a.m. Sunday in western Nevada for the Walker River in northwest Mineral and southern Lyon counties.
Minor flooding is expected in the Mason Valley but widespread or prolonged flooding is no longer in the forecast.
The service cancelled the flood advisory for snowmelt in California’s Mono and Alpine counties and Nevada’s Douglas County. It says that with cooler temperatures forecast through the weekend, the waters there will continue to recede.
High temperatures reached into the 90s in the region last week and early this week, but have cooled since Thursday. A frost warning was issued early Friday in northeast Nevada.
