Florida robbery suspect shoots himself after police find him

MIAMI (AP) - Police say a man suspected of robbing a cellphone store shot and killed himself after officers tracked him down and tried to stop him.

The Miami Herald reports police received a call about an armed robbery late Tuesday at a T-Mobile store in Miami. A man had gone into the story and fled after taking merchandise and cash.

Police tracked the suspect down by using some of the merchandise.

When Miami-Dade police officers tried to stop him, the man shot himself with his own weapon, a news release said. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
