MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - More than 1,000 graduating high school seniors in Manchester, New Hampshire, have participated in alcohol-awareness training on the dangers of underage drinking and impaired driving.
Students on Wednesday participated in a virtual impaired driving simulator, programmed for delayed reaction times as the driver navigates different driving conditions, distractions, and getting pulled over by an officer.
They wore goggles that simulated different blood-concentration levels, allowing students to experience the dangers and consequences of operating a motor vehicle under the influence. They also toured a law enforcement mobile command unit with a drug recognition expert exam area and booking stations.
The event was held by the New Hampshire Liquor Commission’s Division of Enforcement and Licensing.
