SHARON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a woman suffered a minor injury when jumping from her second-floor apartment after the three-unit building she lived in caught fire.

Police say the fire was reported about 4:30 a.m. Sunday on Quimby Mountain Road in Sharon.

There are six people living in the three apartments.

Police said tenant April Melendy “was reported to have suffered a lower body injury in the process of exiting her apartment.” The other five tenants escaped without injury.

When firefighters arrived, the enclosed porch for the second-floor apartment was fully engulfed in flames, which was spreading into the building.

Investigators say the fire appears to have started on the porch. It does not appear to be suspicious.
