HARTLAND, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department says a shooting range in Hartland will be closed for two weeks this month for lead removal.
The Hammond Cove Shooting Range is scheduled to be closed starting on July 15, rather than July 8 as originally planned.
The department says lead projectiles will be removed from the long gun and pistol berms. It also says the pistol berm will be moved from 20 yards to 50 yards away.
Officials say lead reclamation is important for any shooting range to minimize the amount of lead going into the environment that could impact surface water, groundwater, birds and other wildlife.
