SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The bodies of two brothers who went missing while fishing at a Utah reservoir nearly two weeks ago have been found.

Authorities on Sunday confirmed they had recovered the remains of 70-year-old James “Jim” Gardiner and 61-year-old Mark Gardiner at Strawberry Reservoir.

The men, both of Pleasant Grove, were reported missing July 18 after a state employee discovered their empty boat. However, the motor was still running and a fish was attached to one of the fishing rods.

Wasatch County Sheriff Jared Rigby says investigators believe there was some kind of accident and the brothers had tried to help each other.

Their brother, Mike Gardiner, says there was no way one would have left the other in distress.

The reservoir is as deep as 90 feet (27 meters).
