ASHLAND, N.H. (AP) - The town of Ashland, New Hampshire, is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its railroad station, which was recently restored.
The station has been painted in its late-1800s color scheme of light yellow with maroon trim. It’s a museum and welcomes passengers from the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad during fall foliage season.
The Ashland Historical Society is inviting the public to mark the occasion on Sept. 14 with food and music, displays of railroad memorabilia, and vintage photos.
There will be a special train ride to the Plymouth Railroad Station. Tickets are available through the Hobo Railroad in Lincoln.
The rail track was one of the primary routes north through New Hampshire for tourists.
