SEATTLE (AP) - A man accused of stealing dozens of firearms after breaking into two Western Washington gun stores with a backhoe and a truck is now facing federal charges in the case.
KOMO-TV reports 38-year-old Joey Maillet was charged Friday in U.S. District Court with two counts of theft from a federal firearms licensee.
On April 13, court documents say Maillet used a backhoe to ram through the doors of Fred’s Guns in Sequim and stole 26 firearms.
Several weeks later court documents say Maillet smashed through the doors of the All American Armory in Bow in a stolen pickup and stole up to 13 more rifles.
Federal prosecutors say only one of the stolen firearms has been recovered.
It wasn’t known if he has a lawyer.
