SANFORD, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Highway Patrol says a 70-year-old man was hit and killed while trying to cross Interstate 4 near Orlando.

Lt. Kim Montes said in a news release that the man was struck by a car driven by 37-year-old Stephen Rodriguez about 4:35 a.m. Thursday. Rodriguez wasn’t able to stop in time to avoid the man.

Montes says it’s not clear why the man was crossing the interstate.



The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn’t been released.

The accident is under investigation.
