LIVINGSTON, Mont. (AP) - Authorities say a pickup truck struck and killed an 11-year-old boy in Livingston.

Assistant police chief Wayne Hard says the boy was riding a bike in the road on Thursday evening when he was hit.

He declined to name the boy, who died from his injuries at a hospital.

Hard says the Montana Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation.

The fatality was first reported by The Livingston Enterprise.

The Billings Gazette reports Hard does not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.

Hard says the driver of the truck is a man in his 30s. The man was cited for two violations not related to driving, but did not explain further.

Earlier this month, a 9-year-old boy on a scooter was killed by a truck near Hamilton.
