ABBEVILLE, S.C. (AP) - An 87-year-old man with dementia in South Carolina has been found alive after he disappeared for more than 24 hours.
Abbeville Development Director Michael Clary told The Greenwood Index Journal that Eddie Dunlap was dehydrated after spending all day Sunday in the heat. He was being checked by doctors.
Dunlap’s disappearance after he walked out of his apartment late Saturday and toward Abbeville’s town square, set off a massive search .
Dozens of firefighters, police officers and other emergency personnel and volunteers searched town alleys and overgrown lots. They knocked on doors, checked cars and even looked inside trash bins.
