OPINION:
Like any nation, America has its problems. Yet it remains arguably the greatest nation ever, a nation founded on a set of values and ideals that continue to attract immigrants from all over the world. And while not all of the Founders were Christian, many were devout believers who embraced Christian values and a biblical understanding of human nature. They understood the seductive danger of concentrating too much power in too few hands. Through their sacrifice and wisdom, they left us a nation known for its liberty and its guarantee of freedom.
But today we have a generation that rejects the vision and values of our Founders. Today’s progressives look at America and see a country that is fatally flawed and in need of fundamental transformation. Enter the progressive agenda, advanced first by salting the land with a skewed view of history and then packaged and promoted to focus exclusively on our sins, both real and imagined. Bad history is followed by the club of identity politics, used to stifle debate and to devalue the ideas of disfavored groups. The ideas of our Founders, for instance, are considered tainted, toxic and flawed solely because they come from dead white males. Not surprisingly, progressive ideas are served up as a fresh new alternative, advanced by individuals seemingly insulated from criticism because of their gender, ethnicity, skin color or sexual preference.
It’s the reason Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her squad of progressive friends have been recruited to function as the tip of the progressive spear. Belching out bad ideas while slandering the American people and peddling anti-Semitic hate, progressives want us to believe these women are immune from criticism. But true equality demands that we hold them to account, if not at the ballot box then in the court of public opinion.
