ATLANTA (AP) - Jurors were unable to agree on a verdict in the trial of a 25-year-old man accused of shooting and killing a Georgia college student during a 2015 fight in the school’s student union.

News outlets report that prosecutors say they will retry Justin Stephens in the death of Christopher Starks, who was a 22-year-old junior at Savannah State University.

Judge John E. Morse Jr. declared a mistrial Friday.

Prosecutors said Stephens turned a fistfight into a shooting on Aug. 27, 2015.

Defense attorneys said there was a fight, but Stephens did not shoot Starks.

Stephens was indicted in April 2018 on 10 charges including murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and firearms offenses.
