GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Gulf Coast Audubon Society is asking people to keep fireworks away from federally protected birds this Fourth of July holiday.

WXXV-TV reports that the group is asking people to stay away from areas where least terns are nesting. Sections of beach are fenced off for the birds in Gulfport, Biloxi and Pass Christian.

Volunteers will be out to make sure the least terns aren’t disturbed.
