HELENA, Mont. (AP) - A teenage girl running from a mental health hospital near Helena was hit and killed by a pickup on a nearby interstate.

Shodair Children’s Hospital officials say the 15-year-old Missoula girl tampered with the building’s fire alarm Monday afternoon, causing the locks to open, and then ran onto Interstate 15. The Independent Record reports she died at the scene, and no citations have been issued.

Hospital officials say they are cooperating with investigators and providing support to staff, patients and their families. No other information was released.
