AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine is hoping to point more parents to a website connecting them with child care providers.

Maine Public reports that the Maine Department of Health and Human Services is launching a new outreach effort through a new $5.3 million contract.

It’s a $700,000 increase over the agency’s previous agreement with development group Maine Roads to Quality.

The website childcarechoices.me provides licensing, rating and curriculum data about providers.

That website had replaced an in-person referral service that once served all Maine counties until budget cuts seven years ago.
