SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey shore community is planning a 24-hour online livestream of flooding along one of its most frequently inundated streets.
Sea Isle City plans to mount a web camera on its public works building by mid-February. The Press of Atlantic City reports the camera, which costs about $5,000, is being paid for through a grant from OceanFirst Bank to the New Jersey Coastal Coalition.
The goal of the camera is to help residents avoid parking in areas that may see floods. City spokeswoman Katherine Custer says visuals will be a tremendous tool to help accentuate flood alerts.
The coalition says it hopes to install more cameras throughout Atlantic and Cape May counties.
