OPINION:
It is beyond my imagination that bartender Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, with absolutely no accomplishments to her credit, has become the face and voice of the Democratic Party. The newly elected Ocasio-Cortez flits about, spouting her seductive platitudes from the socialist playbook to anyone who will listen. She’s become the darling of Twitter, obsequious, liberal mainstream TV networks and newspaper reporters.
This extensive coterie of Trump-hating liberal media is agog at Miss Ocasio-Cortez’s pied-piper socialist mantra. But her spiel is exactly what one expects from an inchoate, ignorant youth who doesn’t know a thing, except maybe how to pour bourbon on the rocks. Yet even congressional Democrats, fearful that newly elected radicals threaten the leadership, are kowtowing to Miss Ocasio-Cortez, and have allowed her and her like-minded ilk in the House to steer the party even more to the left.
Even worse than fawning media and fretful congressional leadership is that the voters in New York’s 14th Congressional District were snookered into electing Miss Ocasio-Cortez as representative of their views and values. Were they paying attention to her campaign rhetoric? Were they truly aware of the radical, left-leaning intentions of this socialist sensation?
Utopia as envisioned by socialists does not await the uninformed with freebies, “redistributed” wealth, guaranteed income, free college education or a planet completely energized by “green” fuel, as promised by Miss Ocasio-Cortez. Does she ever have a thing or two to learn, but let it not be at the expense of taxpayers.
