CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources is looking for original art for its 2020 wildlife calendar.
The state says color wildlife paintings may depict popular game and fish species or the state’s other wildlife, including snakes, frogs, turtles, salamanders, bats, songbirds, small mammals and nongame fish. The deadline is Feb. 15.
Wildlife Resources Section Chief Paul Johansen said in a news release the calendars are distributed in West Virginia and “enjoyed by people all over the United States.”
The agency prefers electronic images capable of being sized at 14 ½ inches wide by 11 ½ inches high at 300 dpi, but high-quality prints are acceptable. Contact the Division of Natural Resources for rules, or email images to Jessica.N.Swecker@wv.gov.
Artists will receive a $200 prize for each painting chosen, with $500 for the cover art.
