MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. (AP) - About 240 airmen have returned home to their families in south Georgia following a six month deployment overseas.
Members of the 75th Fighter Squadron reunited with spouses, children and other loved ones at a homecoming celebration at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta.
News outlets report the squadron deployed to Southwest Asia in July. The returning airmen were met with hugs and tears late Thursday. Two of them were new fathers getting to see their babies for the first time.
Moody Air Force Base says the 75th Fighter Squadron has roughly 35 pilots as well as support personnel needed for flying A-10C Thunderbolt II fighter jets.
