NEW YORK (AP) - A lawyer has pleaded guilty to stealing $600,000 from a Harlem church that he represented in a real estate transaction.
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. says John Shasanmi of Wilmington, Delaware, put money from the Second Providence Baptist Church into his personal account, instead of in escrow.
Prosecutors say he also mailed the pastor a forged bank statement.
