VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) - A volunteer firefighter in Mississippi is accused of causing a crash that killed one woman and injured another.

The Vicksburg Post reports that 25-year-old Marquise Holmes was charged Tuesday with culpable negligence manslaughter and aggravated assault. A crash late Friday burned 20-year-old Marniqua Stamps and her passenger, 23-year-old Christina Howard.

Both women were hospitalized. Stamps died Saturday, and Howard is recovering.

Holmes appeared in court Tuesday and his bond was set at $300,000. It was not immediately clear whether he is represented by an attorney.

Vicksburg Police Lt. Johnnie Edwards says Holmes was driving behind the victim’s vehicle with his red lights on and attempting to pull her car over. Her car ran off the road, hit a tree and burst into flames.
