SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) - Authorities in northwest Arkansas have launched an investigation after the body of a woman was found in a street.

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that the woman’s body was discovered about 4:51 a.m. Sunday in Springdale, about 145 miles (233 kilometers) northwest of Little Rock.

Springdale Police Lt. Jeff Taylor says investigators found the body of a woman aged 25-35 with a gunshot wound in her torso. Taylor says the woman’s body is being sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Little Rock for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.



Taylor says the woman’s identity was not immediately known. Other details of the investigation were not immediately available.
