WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A school in Delaware says a part-time teacher at the center of accusations of misconduct involving a student has been fired and is being investigated by police.

The News Journal reports Marcos Almonte was fired from Wilmington Christian School on Jan. 8.

Parents received an email Jan. 10 explaining that he’s at the center of “third-party allegations of misconduct” concerning a student. It says Almonte also works as a pastor at Brandywine Baptist Church in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.

The email says they cannot comment any further on any details since the matter is now in the hands of law enforcement and an investigation is ongoing. Delaware State Police say they’re investigating one of the school’s employees.

The newspaper says Almonte didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment Thursday morning.
