America has built thousands of miles of tall walls, often from concrete, along the nation’s highways as noise barriers. In certain instances, the Federal Highway Administration requires them.

Yet for some reason we cannot now find the will or the funds to build even one mile of similar walls along our southern border to prevent illegal crossings that too often result in terrible crimes. How can this be?
