COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The husband of an Ohio woman fatally struck by a firetruck has appealed his lawsuit against the department and the firefighter who drove the truck to the state Supreme Court.
A Green Springs Volunteer Fire Department truck ran over 53-year-old Lorri Riehm in 2016. The News-Messenger in Fremont reports husband Paul Riehm filed a lawsuit against the fire department and driver later that year, citing recklessness and negligence. The lawsuit seeks total damages of more than $50,000.
An appeals court reversed a lower court’s ruling. The appeals court found the department and the driver weren’t subject to liability.
Riehm recently appealed that decision to the Ohio Supreme Court.
A message seeking comment was left Monday for an attorney representing the department and the firefighter.
