FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 9-month-old girl has died several days after a crash on a Florida higway.
The News-Press reports that the infant, Hida Jolin Mateo, was pronounced dead Saturday. Florida Highway Patrol says 58-year-old Johnny Coleman, who was driving another vehicle, died shortly after the Wednesday morning crash.
Investigators say a semitrailer had stalled on an Interstate 75 bridge in North Fort Myers. A car that the little girl was riding in slowed and was rear-ended by Coleman’s van. The car and van both crashed into the semi. Two other people inside the car, including the baby’s mother, were seriously injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
