PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The price of a gallon of gasoline in Rhode Island dropped 2 cents in the past week.

AAA Northeast reported Monday that its weekly price survey found self-serve, regular selling for an average of $2.40 per gallon, 11 cents lower than it was a year ago.

Despite the drop, the Rhode Island price remains 16 cents higher per gallon than the national average.

AAA says the price of crude oil has been slowly increasing this year, but the impact has yet to be felt locally by motorists.

AAA found gas selling for as low as $2.26 per gallon and as high as $2.69 per gallon.
