BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - A community group in Brattleboro is urging the Vermont town to do more to save energy.
Dakota DesRochers, of the Brattleboro Common Sense conservation advisory group, says municipal buildings just switched to renewable energy and they want to do more.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports the group is gathering signatures for an advisory that would be voted on in March at the community’s Representative Town Meeting.
To be placed before representatives at Town Meeting, at least 500 residents would have to sign.
Among other things, the advisory would ask if the select board should consider more ways to save energy, including lowering temperatures in town buildings in the winter and raising them in the summer.
The group has until the middle of January to collect the required signatures.
