LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say a police officer has been hospitalized after being hit by a suspected drunk driver just east of the Las Vegas Strip early on New Year’s Day.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police say an officer was on foot investigating a crash with another officer that involved a suspected impaired driver. Another driver then drove into the area and crashed into a police motorcycle and patrol car which injured one of the officers.
Capt. Nick Farese told KVVU-TV that the officer had a leg injury and his injuries are not life-threatening.
Police believe the second driver was under the influence and arrested him.
His identity has not been released but the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports he was a man in his 20s. He was not injured.
