GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Glendale are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian.

They say officers responded to the accident scene Monday night.

Police say 45-year-old Juana Hernandez-Diaz was crossing a roadway within a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a sedan.

Witnesses say the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and fled the scene.

Hernandez-Diaz was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say it’s unclear if impairment or speed were factors in the fatal accident.
