LAS VEGAS (AP) - Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford is not commenting on sexual assault allegations against Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax.
Ford, who is spearheading a sexual harassment task force, has praised Fairfax on Twitter and referred to him as a friend.
Ford’s spokesman Monica Moazez says Ford met Fairfax at a conference three years ago. She had no comment on the Fairfax allegations.
Ford’s office issued a statement after inquiries about Fairfax that said Ford’s task force “would not look beyond the scope or parameters” laid out by Gov. Steve Sisolak to address workplace sexual harassment.
The woman who is accusing Fairfax issued a statement Wednesday about the 2004 encounter.
Fairfax has repeatedly denied her allegations. He says the encounter was consensual and he is the victim of a strategically-timed smear.
